The Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC), the regional planning agency for Metro Boston, seeks a Municipal Services Specialist (hereafter, Specialist) to help cities and towns to collaborate in the delivery of local services, both to save funds and to improve service quality. For example, current projects include efforts to build inter-municipal collaborations among fire departments, emergency communications centers, housing authorities, and public health departments. Regional collaboration is a key goal of MAPC’s long-range regional plan, MetroFuture . This opening is an opportunity to work in a dynamic, inter-disciplinary, and innovative environment to improve the quality of planning and service delivery on the local level, and to make cities and towns more efficient. The Specialist is responsible for the following activities:
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in planning, public administration, management or a related field and/or 3 years of experience in or with local or regional government. Significant relevant work experience is desirable. The successful applicant will demonstrate credentials and successes in all or most of the following areas:
Full time position with excellent state employee benefits package. Salary is $50-65,000, depending upon qualifications and experience. All candidates must have a valid driver’s license and/or the ability to arrange transportation to meetings in different parts of the region and legal authorization (citizenship or visa) to work in the USA.
