Summary:The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) seeks a Regional Outreach Director to promote pro-Israel education and activism among progressive leaders in AIPAC’s Pacific Northwest Region, which includes Northern California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska and Northern Nevada.The Regional Outreach Director will report to the Regional Political Director in San Francisco and work closely with the National Outreach Director in Washington, DC.The National Outreach Program promotes pro-Israel activism and education among leaders of various constituencies, including Progressives, Veterans, African Americans, Hispanics and Religiously-Motivated Pro-Israel Christians. Essential Functions: Building relationships with key progressive political, religious and community leaders in the Pacific Northwest Region, educating them about the US-Israel relationship and encouraging their involvement in pro-Israel activism and politics. Recruiting participants for regional and national AIPAC events and for AIEF educational seminars in Israel. Maintaining and expanding relationships with Israel trip participants. Promoting pro-Israel political activism. Analyzing local political trends, performing necessary research and preparing background materials and documents. Working closely and cooperatively with AIPAC’s staff (regional and national) and lay leaders. Planning and implementing meetings, speaking events, conferences and other events. Assisting with mobilization on important legislative campaigns. Assisting in educational meetings with candidates for federal office. Traveling within the region frequently and to Washington, DC as needed.Traveling occasionally to Israel with local leaders and contacts. Performing other activities as assigned by the Regional Director or National Outreach Director. Qualifications: Bachelor’s or advanced degree strongly desired, or commensurate experience. A demonstrated commitment to advance the US-Israel relationship. A thorough understanding of and demonstrated experience working with progressive leaders and groups, such as organized labor, the LGBT community, women’s advocacy groups and environmentalists. Superior organizational skills with keen attention to detail. Team-oriented personality with can-do attitude. Strong communication (oral and written) and research skills. Ability to travel regularly. Well-developed political skills, including at least 5 years’ experience in Congress, in a state legislature or local government, on political campaigns, and/or equivalent activities, with proven ability to handle multiple tasks successfully. *Must provide cover letter to be considered *If applying for more than one position please use the ’Attachments’ function to attach position specific cover letter *AIPAC is an equal opportunity employer
